Okay so. Fritjof should be feeling very honoured to have been given this job. Since the save began in 2016, Arsenal's managers have been Arsene Wenger, Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Diego Simeone. And now Fritjof. Simeone departs for the vacant Dortmund job.

In the 15 years since the save began, Arsenal have won the Premier League four times - twice under Wenger and twice under Simeone. That's not bad, but they've gone three years without winning it and clearly the board are demanding a return to winning ways - their official expectation for this season is to win the title.

Far more impressive has been Arsenal's recent success in the Champions League, winning the trophy four times in the past decade (2022, 2027, 2028, 2030). The board expect us to reach the semis this season.

In terms of domestic cups, the board don't consider the League Cup as important but expect us to reach the FA Cup final. Personally I am far more interested in using the domestic cups to bring through talented youngsters, which will help me meet the one club philosophy the board have outlined to me - to develop players using the youth system.

I'm yet to have a proper look through the squad or plan tactics, transfers (I have a budget of £160m!), etc., but the squad is ridiculously talented. It features some of the very, very best players on the planet, and in Guadagnoli a former Ballon d'Or winner.

We also have one of the key members of my Netherlands squad, centre-back Boy Janssen.

New kits are here. No idea whether Emirates will still be sponsoring the stadium/kits in 2031, but I can't be bothered renaming the stadium, and if they're still sponsoring that they may as well be on the shirt too. Still a few years short of Celta Vigo/Citroen.

Away kits loosely guided by 2002/03.

Have made my first signing as Arsenal manager. As if the squad wasn't talented enough already, I've gone out and bought a £115m striker.

Strkalj joins from Schalke where he scored 93 goals in 125 games. He's been runner-up for the Ballon d'Or the past two seasons and is still only 24 so has plenty of time to do great things here.

He's £1m short of being the all-time record transfer and now I wish I'd realised this before I bid so I could have broken the record.

You can tell this game was released in 2016 because the idea of a £116m world transfer record in 2031 is of course laughable now.

I'm sure we all remember Fritjof's last game as Vitesse manager where, amongst other things, this happened:

Five years on...

Exciting.

Have made a more in-depth tactic than I usually bother with (not that I really understand FM tactics, or have the drive to learn), and if this friendly against mediocre American opposition is anything to go by then hopefully it should be fun at least.

Some exceptional coach-hiring from Fritjof. Firstly, my recently-retired former Vitesse captain, who I love dearly:

Secondly, a real piss-boiler:

One of our own, etc.

Tried making a different tactic for another friendly. We won 5-1 (against a Czech team I've never heard of) without actually seeming very good. The two strikers (both exceptional strikers in their own right) both played very poorly, so if they'd been on song maybe it would have felt a lot more convincing. Maybe working out the intricacies of their partnership will be key.

We are the official favourites to win the title. Big pressure.

Under Simeone last season they finished 9 points off winners City, so these odds are a bit surprising.

Have made my second signing.

As far as I can tell Sanchez is, technically speaking, the best goalkeeper in the world at this point. Don't know why he had a release clause as low as £51m but I was more than happy to pay it.

I have mainly signed him because I want to use a sweeper keeper system (he is my Claudio Bravo, oh no) and Sanchez is much better suited to that role than previous first-choice keeper Marijan Slogar (who is in his 12th season with Arsenal and has his testimonial next week, gutted pal).
