What a way to end the season! We trounced Zenit to really emphasise the fact that their period of domination is over.

This result means the final table looks much more comfortable for us than it felt with two games to go...

Also, by some distance, the most goals scored and the fewest goals conceded.

Our season review:

Look at the 'league positions' graph and how long we were top for - from Matchday 10 (mid-October) right up until the end of the season. Hard to say we didn't deserve the title.

Rodionov narrowly (by two goals) missed out on being the Prem'er Liga top scorer, although his record of a goal every 83.47 minutes is comfortably the best in the division. And he's 19. Special player.

It's now four years since I took over at Fakel, and so my time in Russia is surely coming to an end, especially as I've got my hands on the Prem'er Liga trophy. I'm tempted to stay at CSKA for a maximum of one more season, just to get my first taste of the Champions League (as title winners we go straight into the group stage). I could then use my performance in the CL to help me determine what sort of level my next job should be at. I'll definitely be looking to move into one of the top five leagues and I think my success in Russia is enough to justify that. If I do well in the Champions League though, I could be really making my name for myself as an up-and-coming top-class manager and could feel comfortable applying for pretty top-end jobs; not the Reals and Uniteds (unless I like... win the Champions League) but maybe the level below that. Alternatively, if I fail in the Champions League as spectacularly as I did in the Europa League this season, I'd have to cast my eye a bit further down the table.

I'm sure I could be tempted if the right job appeared sooner than that, though.

Just seen Klopp-managed Arsenal have won the Champions League, and that along the way to the final they beat Real Madrid 9-4? Not on aggregate, in 90 minutes? lol.

There is nothing Moussa Dembele can't do on FM17.

Excited to announce that I've signed a player I've actually heard of.

32-year-old Gylfi will replace 35-year-old Roman Eremenko, whose contract I'm letting expire because he is too old.

An impressive seven of our players in the official Team of the Season.

Individual awards go to Rodionov (Young Player of the Year; 3rd place in Players' Player of the Year) and Akinfeev (Goalkeeper of the Year). Akinfeev dedicated his award to Fritjof, the beautiful man.

The 2022/23 kits are here and I love them all. Truly I now have a reason to stick around at CSKA.

Yes. I love this game. Going on a pre-season tour of Germany purely so I can play Unterhaching.

Got a bit freaked out by this:

And so, even though I'm sure it's not my responsibility, I've kindly helped the board out by selling one of our more profitable players to Ryan Giggs's Watford.

Although Manaj only signed as first-choice striker a year ago, the rise of Rodionov means he's less crucial than he once seemed and the money is probably worth more to us than the player.

I've already replaced Manaj in what I think is a good deal; Fedor Chalov signs from Ufa for an initial €725k, a fraction of what we've sold Manaj for. Chalov is only 24, not too far off Manaj in terms of ability, and unlike Manaj is Russian so does not count towards our foreign player limit.

Chalov is actually returning to CSKA, having been sold to Ufa as a young player before I got here.

Despite six years having passed since the start of the save, Haching's matchday squad included Max Dombrowka, Tim Schels, Thomas Steinherr, Marco Rosenzweig, Mark Zettl and (Luca's brother) Yanis Marseiler. Will have to make the Haching friendly a regular feature.

Kick the new season off with an appalling derby defeat at home. Nice.
